Facebook - good or bad?

August 13, 2009
I know a lot of people that won't use it. I know a lot more people that do use it. i for one am a user. I play scabble, I check out what others are up to and I write a short story in my update. It's a great way to waste a bit of time.

The waste of time aspect of facebook is one reason a lot of people don't use it. There is so much on the site that you can do that you could easily spend all day everyday just surfing there. But there is a novelty factor attached to it. Yes you can, and yes you will for the first period you are on the site. But pretty soon the novelty fades, for some.

I personally lost interest in all of the games except scrabble and so facebook has become more of a check up on what people are doing. The problem for me is a lot of the people that I would like to see what they are up to and use facebook as a contact point are simply not on there. It can't be too long though. Facebook is very popular and there is an enormous amount of pressure from work mates, friends and to a lesser extent, family, to get on there.

I like facebook, but I can see why so many don't. There are a lot of 'fake' friends out there. Probably, to provide something questionable through to you like ashley greene dirty pic links or something or to offer free sex, 10 year old pussy, teen pussy or something along those lines. Best to ignore them because once they have you on the list it appears you get all of that stuff. Thankfully, the only thing I have been automatcially signed up for was a dating type group...my wife was not happy to see emails from potential suitors. It could have been worse, it could have been an email about free sex or 10 yeaor old pussy. Then I would have been in real trouble.

Children and alcohol - the debate is back on...again

August 13, 2009
Another story out today about binge drinking and another story telling parents that if they let their child drink at home they are sending them on the path of alcoholism and binge drinking. Just one sip will do it according the headlines. Professor John Toumbourou has come out and said that parents that let their shild sip champagne at a relatives wedding, or have a glass of wine at dinner are setting that child up for binge drinking.

Apparently, early exposure to alcohol enables the child to...

Umbrellas

July 29, 2009
It has been raining a bit here in Adelaide over the last few days and this has highlighted a problem with umbrella use. There are usually plenty of places to walk while it rains without getting wet. This is fantastic for people who often choose to go without umbrellas. However, there are increasing numbers of people that are walking under cover with their umbrella above their heads. Do you really need an umbrella if you are under cover? Probably not.

But, this is not the worst of it. These inc...

The maddening overuse of perfumes and after-shaves

July 28, 2009
I've just come back from a rather brisk walk to the post office. Aside from the normal amusing sightings of individuals with no sense of how to dress, there were a higher than average number of individuals that have overdone the perfume or after-shave. Is it really necessary to do your best to over power every passer by with your scent of choice? Why do people do it?

I'm not a big one for their use. I prefer the use of body spray to a minimal extent to ensure I don't smell too badly of B.O.. I...
