As promised an update on the warrior hops tasting. It is remarkably similar to Amarillo in the early stages, perhaps a little too much. There are those that love Amarillo and those that think its a tad over done. In the first few tastings of any brew using Amarillo there is a tendency for the flavours not to blend well, it almost tastes off. Then the beer settles and the Amarillo flavours come through nicely. Sometimes a little too fruity for some but everyone has their own opinion.

The Warrior appears to be the same but there isn't that overpowering off fruit flavour that can come through with Amarillo. The beer is still quite young and needs another couple of weeks to settle down perhaps. Warrior provides a hint of mango. Now mango is a strong flavour but its sitting nicely in the background. Perhaps, there is a hint of rockmelon as well sitting nciely in the background. Warrior is a hop to use again and again. There are a lot more positive that negatives and it is something that could be used in higfher concentrations without getting overpowered by harsh bitterness or fruity flavours. The beer will still taste like beer. This hop is a wonderful hop. Columbus is not a substitute...but perhaps a perfect companion. One to try for the future.
